Maha gives nod to reclamation for coastal road

A coastal road in Mumbai city is a step closer to becoming a reality after the Maharashtra coastal zone management authority (MCZMA) approved reclamation of 160 hectares for the project and recommended the amendment of coastal regulation zone (CRZ) notification, 2011, to facilitate its implementation. The MCZMA made this suggestion to the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) in a meeting on June 10 to decide on the increasing issue of traffic congestion.

Sambalpur to have a flyover to ease traffic congestion

In Odisha's Sambalpur, the Public Works Department has planned a flyover in the heart of the city, keeping in view the rising traffic. The proposed 700-metre overbridge will connect Church Road and Peerbaba Chhak and pass over Laxmi Talkies and Golebazaar Chhak, the two busy business hubs of the town. Though estimation of the project is yet to be finalised, officials said it would cost nearly Rs 20 crore to Rs 25 crore.

Jaipur to have two high-level bridges to cut congestion

To reduce congestion and provide better connectivity, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has expedited the process to start the construction work of two high-level bridges in the city. These high-level bridges will be constructed between Gopalpura to Mansarovar and Swej Farm to Sodala. A senior official said that the demarcation work near Swej Farm has been started by the authority at zone level, while, a consultant has been appointed to prepare the design for Gopalpura.

Rs 14.50 cr for bypass roads in TN's Kancheepuram area

In Tamil Nadu, Walajabad and Uthiramerur in Kancheepuram area will get bypass roads to relieve the towns of traffic congestion, the State Highways Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said recently. Moving the demands for the department in the Assembly, he said that Rs.14.50 crore has been sanctioned for the projects.

Now, Delhi to have one-legged elevated roads

In a first, 24.2 metre-wide elevated roads will be constructed in Delhi on a single narrow column using the single-pier technique. In this, six lanes of traffic will move on top, while four lanes will be open at the ground level as well. These elevated flyways are being built on outer Ring Road and Ring Road, and will help avoid traffic congestion at the ground level, say officials.
